The ZFP 1650 Industrial Wide Format Laminator is a 65" (1650mm) roll-to-roll laminating machine engineered for high-volume converting, trade finishing, and packaging production. Unlike conventional wide format laminators built only to finish printed graphics, the ZFP 1650 is a true industrial web laminator: it unwinds, laminates, slits, sheets, and rewinds paper, cardboard, and film in a single pass, at operating speeds up to 72 feet per minute (22 m/min).

Roll-to-Roll Mode: Continuous Web Lamination at 72 Feet per Minute
In roll-to-roll mode, the ZFP 1650 unwinds the master roll, laminates the full 65" web, and rewinds the finished material onto a 3" core, ready for the next stage of your converting line. An electromagnetic brake on the master-roll shaft holds precise, consistent web tension from a full roll down to the core, eliminating the wrinkles, tunneling, and edge lift that plague friction-brake laminators at production speed. Continuous operation at up to 72 ft/min makes the ZFP 1650 a genuine production web laminator, not a graphics finisher pressed into converting duty.
Roll-to-Sheet Mode: Laminate and Cut to Marker or Set Length
Switch to roll-to-sheet mode and the ZFP 1650 laminates the web and cuts it into finished sheets in the same pass, either to printed registration marks or to a programmed set length. Roll-fed input with sheet-fed output means you buy material in economical master rolls and deliver press-ready or ship-ready sheets without a separate sheeter, a second operator, or a second machine footprint. For trade finishers and packaging converters, this mode alone changes the economics of laminated sheet production.
Sheet-to-Sheet Mode: Sheet Lamination with Automatic Separation
In sheet-to-sheet mode, the ZFP 1650 laminates individual sheets and automatically separates them at the exit, the same automatic separation technology ZFP has refined across two decades of sheet-fed laminator production. There is no operator standing at the delivery bursting sheets apart by hand, and no downstream trimming station. Feed printed sheets in, take separated laminated sheets out. For shops running both roll stock and sheet stock, this is the mode that makes the ZFP 1650 the only laminator the floor needs.
Industrial Web Handling Built for Production Uptime
Roll changes are where production laminators win or lose the shift. The ZFP 1650 is equipped with pneumatic expanding shafts for 3" cores and quick-release chucks on every shaft, so a full roll change takes minutes, not a maintenance window. The electromagnetic master-roll brake maintains calibrated tension electronically rather than mechanically, delivering flat, tight, consistent lamination across paper, cardboard, and film substrates from the first foot of the roll to the last.

The ZFP 1650 itself began as a bespoke build for a specialized post-press requirement, and that is the way ZFP works.
