How the KalaXY XY Cutter Works

X Cutting (Horizontal)

The KalaXY reads printed cut marks or cuts at fixed programmed lengths — automatically. Cut marks (single or double lines) can be generated by SAI, Onyx, Caldera, and most RIP software. An exclusive stop mark function halts the machine when a designated stop mark is detected in the print file, allowing easy Y blade repositioning for the next print series on the same roll. No wasted material, no guesswork.

Y Cutting (Vertical)

Vertical (Y) cutting blades are manually positioned along the cutting bar. The KalaXY ships with three Y blade holders: two single-blade and one double-blade. Additional holders are available separately. Removable media guides direct finished cut sheets cleanly out of the machine. Y blades are fast and easy to swap, keeping your operators on task and throughput high.

Workflow Control & Automatic Media Alignment

The KalaXY features a touchscreen control panel and automatic media edge correction. An optical sensor continuously detects the edge position of the roll and the reel auto-adjusts to keep media aligned throughout the entire job. Y cutting blades can be adjusted on the fly via push buttons to compensate for roll misalignment — delivering perfectly square finished pieces every time, with no operator intervention mid-run.
